Legend of Robin Hood The story of Robin Hood has been told for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The legend started in England during the Middle Ages when it was said that he lived with his bandit gang, the merry men, from 1196 to 1247 in Nottinghamshire. He gained popularity in this time period as a hero because of his taking of riches away from wealthy nobles while giving some back to those who were less fortunate like peasants or other outlaws living outside society's rules and regulations. However, many have cast doubts about whether any part of these tales are true at all. Some will argue that he never existed, but others say they have evidence proving him real such as relics found underground which could've belonged to members of his family, and both items date back 1200 AD so we'll probably never be 100% sure of the facts, but a great story anyway and one that has stood the test of time.
